Macia Batle Tinto Crianza 1856

A Mallorcan red wine with real backbone: The Macia Batle Tinto Crianza 1856 shows what the island has to offer vinologically beyond beach romance.

The Macia Batle winery is located in the heart of Mallorca, in the DO Binissalem wine region. The 1856 in its name refers to the winery's founding – one of the oldest and most renowned estates on the island. They work with local and international grape varieties that thrive in the Mediterranean climate. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for 10 months in French and American oak barrels , followed by a further 14 months in the bottle.

In the glass, it displays a rich, deep purple-red color. The nose opens with ripe cherries, plums, and blackberries, followed by vanilla and a spicy, slightly smoky oak note. On the palate, it fills the mouth pleasantly: balsamic spice, gently integrated tannins, and a long finish with a subtle smoky note.

Macia Batle

The Spanish winery Macia Batle is located on the Balearic island of Mallorca and was founded there in 1865. The current owner is Ramón Vala Viaña. The winery is situated on the western side of the island, approximately 25 minutes from the city of Palma de Mallorca. Macia Batle has a total vineyard area of 150 hectares, characterized by soft soils with a very high calcium content. Combined with the climate, which boasts 300 days of sunshine a year and short winters with little rainfall, the soil and weather provide excellent conditions for vine growth. Macia Batle cultivates grape varieties such as Manto Negro, Callet, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Prensal Blanc, and Chardonnay for its wines.
