Macia Batle Tinto Crianza 1856

A Mallorcan red wine with a real backbone: The Macia Batle Tinto Crianza 1856 shows what the island has to offer vinologically beyond beach romance.

The Macia Batle winery is located in the center of Mallorca, in the D.O. Binissalem growing region. The 1856 in the name refers to the founding history of the house – one of the oldest and most famous estates on the island. They work with local and international varieties that withstand the Mediterranean climate well. After temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine matures for 10 months in French and American oak, followed by another 14 months in the bottle.

In the glass, it shows a rich purple red. The nose opens with ripe cherries, plum, and blackberry, behind which are vanilla and a spicy, slightly smoky wood tone. On the palate, it fills the mouth pleasantly: balsamic spice, gently integrated tannin, long finish with a subtle smoke note.
