Laurentiuslay Riesling GG

Laurentiuslay Riesling GG
The Laurentiuslay is one of the great Mosel Rieslings that show what slate can do to a grape variety: tension, length, depth.
The St. Urbans-Hof winery in Leiwen has been run by the Weis family for decades. Nik Weis has made the estate one of the most reliable names on the Moselle – with a consistent focus on expressing the terroir rather than relying on cellar techniques. The Laurentiuslay vineyard lies on weathered Devonian slate, which retains water, reflects heat, and gives the Riesling its typical Moselle minerality.
In the glass, the 2021 vintage displays a clear, yellow-green color. The nose offers citrus peel, white peach, and a delicate slate aroma reminiscent of wet stone. On the palate, a firm acidity provides support without being aggressive—a creamy texture from aging on the lees, and a long, salty-mineral finish. A wine with backbone and composure.
