Königschaffhausen-Kiechlinsbergen volcanic rock Weissburgunder
A Pinot Blanc that shows what volcanic basalt weathering soil in the Kaiserstuhl region can bring out of a classic Burgundy variety: firm structure, clear fruit, a long finish.
Origin: The Königschaffhausen-Kiechlinsbergen winegrowers' cooperative is one of the most reliable producers in the Kaiserstuhl region. The Vulkanfelsen vineyard is characterized by deep soils of weathered basalt and loess—a terroir that imbues Pinot Blanc with natural richness and mineral tension.
In the glass: Aromas of yellow apple, white peach, and pear, underpinned by a subtle almond note and a delicate hint of chalk on the finish. The wine displays body without heaviness—the acidity keeps everything fresh and focused.
At the table: Serve it at 10–12 °C. It pairs well with poultry in cream sauces, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a mature Brie de Meaux. For those who don't need a special occasion: a glass after work with a cheese board works just as well.
