Keyneton Euphonium

Anyone familiar with the Eden Valley and Barossa Valley knows that Australian red wines grown here take their time. Henschke's Keyneton Euphonium is the prime example of this—a powerful yet structured blend that combines depth with elegance.

Henschke is one of Australia's oldest family-run wineries, based in Keyneton since 1868. The vines for their Euphonium grow in both valleys and benefit from the interplay of warm days and cool nights—this explains the tension between fruitiness and crisp acidity. Five generations of craftsmanship are embodied in every vintage.

In the glass, it displays a deep purple-red color with ruby ​​highlights. The nose combines raspberry, black plum, and blackberry with violet and almond blossom—along with bay leaf, black pepper, and dried herbs. On the palate, dark forest fruits, sage, and Dutch cocoa emerge, held together by fine-grained tannins and a refreshing acidity. The finish is long and spicy.

Pairs well with braised lamb shank with rosemary, beef shank, or a mature cheddar. Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Depending on the vintage, it will remain in good drinking condition for another 8–12 years.
