Hill of Grace

The Hill of Grace from Henschke is one of Australia's most iconic red wines — a Shiraz that shows what old vines and extraordinary soil can achieve when given time and care.

The Henschke winery is located in the Eden Valley in South Australia and has been run by the same family since 1868. The vines for the Hill of Grace stand on the vineyard of the same name in Keyneton and are over 150 years old — ungrafted, own-rooted, a relic from the time before phylloxera. Fermentation takes place in open fermenters, which allow for intensive extraction and lively fermentation.

Deep purple red with ruby reflections in the glass. The nose opens with black plum, blackberry, blueberry, and cassis, complemented by cocoa, star anise, nutmeg, and a hint of sage oil. Elegant and dense on the palate: dark berry fruit, violets, and cedarwood, carried by refined acidity and velvety, feathered tannins. The finish is long, complex, and effortless.

Best served at 16–18 °C, with herb-crusted rack of lamb, braised beef shoulder, or aged cheddar.
