Juliénas Cru Beaujolais

Juliénas is considered one of the most powerful of the ten Beaujolais crus—more structured and with better aging potential than many of its neighbors, yet never heavy. Château Fuissé, primarily known as the dominant wine in Pouilly-Fuissé, proves here that the estate also knows what it's doing in Beaujolais.

The AOC Juliénas encompasses 585 hectares of granite and clay soils in northern Beaujolais. Gamay grown on these soils produces wines with real bite—more depth, more texture than one might expect from Beaujolais. This is evident in the glass: blackberry and dark cherry take center stage, accompanied by violets and a hint of peppery spice. The tannins are present but supple; the acidity carries the wine without being harsh.

Serving temperature 14–16 °C. Drinking window: now until 2027; it develops particularly well with a little aeration in the glass. Pairs well with Coq au Vin, grilled lamb chops with herbs de Provence, or a robust Chaource.
