Dhroner Hofberg Riesling dry

A Riesling that does not reveal everything immediately – but becomes all the more convincing when it gets air in the glass. The Dhroner Hofberg is one of the classic steep sites of the Middle Moselle, known for its slate subsoil and the precise minerality it carries into the wine.

Josef Rosch has been managing his winery in Leiwen for generations – with a focus on site-typical, dry Rieslings that let the origin speak instead of masking it. The Hofberg with its south-facing steep slope provides the basis for this.

On the nose, the wine initially shows restrained stone fruit notes – mirabelle, light plum – behind which is a subtle slate vein that gains clarity with some air. On the palate, straightforward and clearly structured: lively acidity that keeps it fresh without stinging, a firm backbone, and a powerful-mineral finish with good length. Not a loud wine – one that rewards attention.
