Frühburgunder Landskrone GG QW Ahr 0.75L
Frühburgunder is Germany's oldest red wine grape variety — and the Ahr Valley is one of the few regions that truly does it justice. The Nelles winery, rooted in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler for generations, vinifies one of the Ahr Valley's most distinctive single vineyard sites with its Landskrone GG: steep slate slopes above the river, which impart a mineral depth to the wine that is rare in Frühburgunder.
In the glass, it displays a deep, dark ruby red. The nose offers blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of violet, underpinned by subtle notes of clove and earth. On the palate, it is broader than a Pinot Noir; the tannins are ripe and velvety, the acidity well-integrated—not an angular wine, but one with richness and substance. The finish is long, slightly spicy, with a mineral aftertaste.
Best served between 16 and 18 °C . Pairs well with venison goulash, leg of lamb with rosemary, or mature mountain cheese. Aging it for two to four years will reward you with additional complexity.
