Ermitage Blanc Ex Voto AC Ermitage 0.75L
The Ermitage Blanc Ex Voto is one of the great white Rhône wines of all — a wine that Guigal only bottles in the best vintages and which even within the house occupies a special position.
Domaine E. Guigal has been one of the most influential names in the northern Rhône Valley for decades. This family-run winery in Ampuis vinifies its top wines with a consistency that culminates in the Ermitage Blanc Ex Voto: exclusively Marsanne from old vines grown on the granite and loess soils of the Hermitage hill.
In the glass, it displays the typical depth of a ripe Marsanne: beeswax, white peach, and acacia honey on the nose, underpinned by a mineral tension reminiscent of flint. The palate is dense and oily-textured, the acidity precise enough to give definition to the wine's weight. The finish is long, with a hint of almond and dry herbal pulp.
This wine needs time — drinking window at least five years after the vintage, peaking after ten. Serving temperature: 13–15 °C. Pairs well with lobster with tarragon butter, sweetbreads, or a mature Comté cheese.
