Enate Syrah-Shiraz DO
A powerful Syrah that bridges the gap between Spanish temperament and French finesse. The Enate winery is located in the prestigious DO Somontano – literally "at the foot of the mountains" – well-protected below the Pyrenees. Winemaker Jesús Artajona brings his Bordeaux experience to the cellar, shaping the estate's style: terroir-driven, elegant, and with soft tannins. The grapes for this red wine come exclusively from the estate's own organically cultivated vineyards surrounding the village of Barbastro.
In the glass, the wine displays tremendous depth. The initial aromas are juicy red berries, dark cherries, and floral notes of violets, closely followed by black olives, cocoa, and oriental spices. On the palate, a dense structure develops. Ripe blackberries and blackcurrants meld with tapenade, dark chocolate, and a cool hint of menthol. The subtle toasty notes from the oak aging are expertly integrated, culminating in a long finish characterized by complex spice and vibrant freshness.
With its elegant power, this Syrah demands robust companions. Serve it at 16–18 °C with a roasted rack of lamb with rosemary, a hearty venison ragout with dark chocolate sauce, or with mature Manchego cheese.

Founded in 1991 in Somontano, Aragon, Bodega Enate has since become one of the most influential names in the Spanish wine scene, now cultivating 500 hectares of vineyards at the foot of the Pyrenees. What sets Enate apart from other bodegas is its deeply ingrained three-pronged identity: quality winemaking, unwavering sustainability, and a profound connection to contemporary art, which is reflected even in the wine labels. Vineyards at an altitude of around 600 meters, sandy loam soils, and a daily temperature range of up to 15°C ensure slow-ripening grapes with pronounced varietal character. The result is wines that prioritize balance and elegance – not a flashy display, but precise craftsmanship from the heart of Aragon.
