Dönnhoff Tonschiefer Riesling dry

A dry Riesling from the Nahe that combines freshness and tension: green apple, peach, and fine herbal notes, plus a clear mineral line. The name refers to the soil that shapes this wine: clay slate.

Dönnhoff is located in Oberhausen an der Nahe, and the family has been growing wine there since the 18th century. The winery is one of the most famous addresses in the region and stands for Rieslings with precision and a clear sense of origin. The Nahe lies between the Mosel and Rheinhessen. Its soils of slate, volcanic rock, and loam change over a small area, and this diversity is reflected in the wines.

In the mouth, the wine has a medium body. The juicy acidity keeps it firm, the finish is mineral with a light herbal spice. Serve it at 8–10 °C. It pairs well with fried trout, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, sushi, or goat cheese with fresh herbs. It works just as well as an aperitif for a mild evening on the terrace.
