Sauvignon Blancfumat Collio DOC

A Sauvignon Blanc from the Collio region that shows how different this grape variety tastes on Friulian limestone: ripe stone fruit instead of sharp gooseberry, smooth texture instead of a harsh acidity edge.

Collavini is one of the most reliable wineries in Friuli – the family has been cultivating vineyards in the Collio DOC for decades, one of Italy's most precise white wine terroirs, right on the Slovenian border. Here, the so-called Ponca – an alternating pattern of limestone and sandstone layers – determines the minerality and finesse of the wines. Continental nights ensure slow ripening and freshness, while the warm afternoons contribute to the wines' richness in the glass.

In the glass, the wine shines a rich golden yellow. The nose opens with aromas of white peach, honeydew melon, and a delicate hint of banana – full-bodied and inviting without being overpowering. On the palate, it displays a soft, rounded texture with a subtle acidity that supports the fruit without dominating. The finish is clean and short – an uncomplicated wine that leaves nothing to ponder.

  • Dishes: Grilled sea bass, linguine alle vongole, creamy goat cheese crostini or light summer dishes with lemon vinaigrette
  • Temperature: 10–12 °C
  • Drinking window: Drink now – fresh fruit aromas take center stage.
