Chateau Lynch-Bages 6-bottle wooden case

Lynch-Bages is one of the most famous names in the Médoc — a Fifth Growth from Pauillac that has been performing far above its classification for decades. The Château is located on one of the best gravel plateaus in the appellation, right next to the First Growths, and is managed by the Cazes family with a clear focus on expressiveness and accessibility.

The 2019 vintage shows what defines a mature Pauillac: cassis and dark cherry in the foreground, followed by cedar wood, dried herbs, and a hint of graphite. On the palate, it presents itself with a dense, well-integrated tannin structure and a long, spicy finesse. Not an edgy wine — rather one of the more accessible vintages of the Château, without losing any depth.

Best served at 17–18 °C, ideally decanted one hour before drinking. Pairs excellently with rack of lamb with rosemary, entrecôte with herb butter, or mature Comté.

The Château

Château Lynch Bages

Château Lynch-Bages is located at the entrance to Pauillac, on a vast gravel plateau overlooking the Gironde. The name has Irish roots: the Lynch family, once one of the most influential in the Médoc, shaped the estate for generations. Since 1939, it has been in the hands of the Cazes family – and thus, Lynch-Bages has remained one of the most well-known family wineries in the Bordeaux region.

As a Grand Cru Classé of 1855, the Château is one of the classified sites of the Médoc – and yet it has never cultivated a reputation for being unapproachable. The wines are powerful, aromatic, and accessible: dark fruit, cedar wood, a long finish. Cabernet Sauvignon dominates, Merlot rounds it off. In the cellar, they work with modern wooden vats and precise winemaking – craftsmanship meets technology.
