Chardonnay Zeller Kreuzberg
The Zeller Kreuzberg vineyard lies at an altitude of approximately 240 meters directly on the edge of the village and, with a slope of up to 27%, faces south, allowing for optimal sun exposure and ripening. Limestone with clayey loam characterizes the soils and imparts a cool minerality and a firm, precise structure to the wines. The selectively hand-harvested grapes were gently pressed as whole clusters and spontaneously fermented in 500-liter tonneaux, where the wine matured on the lees until July. The nose reveals a reductive, slightly smoky opening with chalky minerality and subtle yellow fruit, while on the palate, saline freshness, a firm structure, fine herbal notes, and elegant oak influence culminate in a lean, lingering finish.
