Casa Ferreirinha Vinha Grande Douro DOC

Already captivating with its extraordinary density and complexity, the Douro Reserva from Casa Ferreirinha is, similar to a Vintage Port, only produced in the best years. An absolute phenomenon and without a doubt the most celebrated Portuguese wine is Barca Velha. The wine was produced for the first time in 1952. Only 16 vintages have been deemed worthy of producing a Barca Velha since then. They are small masterpieces that carry the character traits of the greatest Port wines, but at the same time allow a deeper look at this magnificent terroir, especially its mineral components.

The Casa Ferreirinha Vinha Grande Douro has a deep red color; the bouquet is dominated by red fruits, floral tones, and spices (pepper and cinnamon); on the palate, it shows itself to be balanced.

The grapes are hand-picked and fermented in stainless steel. Afterwards, the wine is stored for 12-18 months in used French oak barrels. After careful filtration, the wine is bottled.

Casa Ferreirinha

Casa Ferreirinha – this name stands for tradition, passion, and wines that tell a story in the Douro Valley. It all began with Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, one of the most fascinating personalities in Portuguese viticulture.

The woman who shaped the winery in the 19th century was far ahead of her time – courageous, entrepreneurial, and deeply rooted in the rugged, beautiful Douro.

Her legacy lives on in every glass to this day. The wines of Casa Ferreirinha show what the Douro is capable of: deep, warm fruit, velvety texture, and a power that never feels intrusive. Whether the legendary Barca-Velha or an accessible Esteva – here you can feel the soul of a region that does not just produce wine, but lives it.
