Casa Ferreirinha Vinha Grande Douro DOC

Even the Douro Reserva from Casa Ferreirinha, distinguished by its exceptional density and complexity, is produced, much like a Vintage Port, only in the best years. An absolute exception, and without a doubt the most celebrated Portuguese wine, is Barca Velha. First produced in 1952, only 16 vintages have since been deemed worthy of producing a Barca Velha. These are small masterpieces, exhibiting characteristics of the greatest Port wines while simultaneously offering a deeper insight into this magnificent terroir, particularly its mineral components. The Casa Ferreirinha Vinha Grande Douro is a deep red color, with a bouquet dominated by red fruits, floral notes, and spices (pepper and cinnamon). On the palate, it is remarkably well-balanced. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel. The wine then ages for 12-18 months in used French oak barrels. After careful filtration, the wine is bottled. Casa Ferreirinha

Casa Ferreirinha – in the Douro Valley, this name stands for tradition, passion, and wines that tell a story. It all began with Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, one of the most fascinating figures in Portuguese winemaking. The woman who shaped the estate in the 19th century was far ahead of her time – courageous, entrepreneurial, and deeply rooted in the ruggedly beautiful Douro. Her legacy lives on in every glass today. The wines of Casa Ferreirinha showcase the Douro's potential: deep, warm fruit, a velvety texture, and a power that is never overpowering. Whether the legendary Barca-Velha or an approachable Esteva – here you can feel the soul of a region that doesn't just produce wine, it lives it.
