Campo ai Sassi Rosso di Montalcino

Campo ai Sassi Rosso di Montalcino, alongside Brunello, is one of the absolute classics among Tuscan red wines. With Frescobaldi's Campo ai Sassi, you have a particularly multifaceted example in your wine cellar: cherry, plum, and currant create a fruity first impression. This is beautifully rounded off by delicate notes of cinnamon and anise, tobacco, and leather. Despite its spiciness, Campo ai Sassi is a fresh Rosso di Montalcino that, on the one hand, seems almost youthful, and on the other, is juicy and smooth to drink. Campo ai Sassi Rosso di Montalcino comes from Tenuta Castel Giocondo, one of the various estates of the Marchesi de Frescobaldi. Here, it is produced exclusively from the Sangiovese grape – but from younger vineyards than those used for Brunello. As a result, it contains less tannin and thus tastes lighter and more playful. Nevertheless, you can enjoy Campo ai Sassi for a long time: you can drink it now, but you can also easily let it age for ten years.

Frescobaldi

Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of Tuscany's great names – and has been for some 700 years. Today, the family manages nine individual estates, from the cool Apennine slopes of Pomino to Chianti Rufina and the Maremma coast, clearly capturing the unique characteristics of each terroir in the bottle. Tiziana, Lamberto, and Diana Frescobaldi run the estate as the 30th generation, with the same commitment as their ancestors: to take tradition seriously without sacrificing innovation. Since 2012, all estates have held the AgriQualità certification of the Tuscany region; Castello Nipozzano and Castello Pomino were also the first Tuscan wineries to receive PEFC certification for sustainable forest management.
