Buio Rosso Carignano del Sulcis DOC
The Buio Rosso Carignano del Sulcis DOC from Mesa is a single-varietal red wine from the southwestern corner of Sardinia – a region where the Carignano grape has been deeply rooted for centuries and bears perhaps its most expressive fruit on barren, windswept soils.
In the glass, it displays a deep, sparkling ruby red hue. The nose opens with smoky, slightly mineral notes that mingle with aromas of ripe red fruits and dark plums – complex, but never overpowering. On the palate, it is juicy and structured, with a long, pleasantly spicy finish.
When and what does it go best with? This wine pairs perfectly with:
- Grilled lamb or game dishes
- Strongly spiced pasta sauces and ragù
- Mature hard cheeses such as Pecorino Sardo
- A relaxed evening that calls for more depth
Buio Rosso is an honest, characterful wine – Sardinian through and through. When you open a glass, you're also drinking a piece of the island.
