Borgogno Barolo Riserva
A Barolo that makes no compromises: The Riserva from Borgogno represents classic Piedmont – rich in tannins, complex, with real aging potential.
Borgogno is one of the oldest wineries in the Barolo region, founded in 1761 in Barolo itself. The grapes come from four vineyards: Cannubi, Liste, Rué, and San Pietro – all recognized crus of the Langhe. The wine is traditionally aged in large Slavonian oak barrels, a method that allows the wine time to open up without being dominated by oak aromas.
In the glass, the Nebbiolo displays its classic profile: dried rose, tar, tobacco, and licorice , along with a hint of leather and kirsch. The tannins are firm and present, the acidity high – both signs of longevity. The finish is long and spicy, with a mineral aftertaste.
Drinking window: from 2026, keep until 2035+. Serving temperature 17–18 °C, decant two hours beforehand if desired. Pairs well with braised beef, venison ragù, mature Parmigiano Reggiano , or Ossobuco alla Milanese.
