Borgogno Langhe “Bompè” Barbera
The Langhe Barbera “Bompè” from Giacomo Borgogno & Figli is an expressive red wine from one of Piedmont's most historically significant Barbera vineyards. The grapes grow on the 9-hectare single vineyard “Bompè” in Madonna di Como near Alba, on clay-gypsum-rich soils at an altitude of 410–425 meters – certified organic and bathed in sunshine all day long.
In the glass, it shines a deep ruby red with violet reflections . The nose is concentrated and complex with aromas of wild berries, blackberry, Damask rose, and red fruit pulp , accompanied by pronounced smoky notes and subtle nuances of cocoa and spice. On the palate, it surprises with pronounced salinity and verticality , invigorating acidity, a mineral aftertaste, and a long, precise finish.
After spontaneous fermentation in cement tanks, the wine matures for a year in large French oak barrels . Served at 16–18 °C with 14.5% alcohol by volume , it pairs perfectly with filled pasta, lamb, braised dishes, and classic Piedmontese cuisine.
