Borgogno Barolo Fossati

The Borgogno Barolo Fossati comes from one of Barolo's most prestigious single vineyards and shows what classic Piedmontese winemaking means: power, structure and the patience to let both mature.

Borgogno is one of the oldest wineries in Barolo – founded in 1761 in Barolo itself. The estate is known for its traditional winemaking: long maceration, aging in large wooden casks ( botti ), and no compromises on aging potential. The single vineyard Fossati lies within the municipality of Barolo on calcareous soils with tuff layers – a terroir that imparts a special minerality and approachability to the Nebbiolo.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color with orange highlights. The nose offers aromas of dried cherry, rosebud, and licorice, underpinned by tar and a hint of tobacco – typical Nebbiolo characteristics. On the palate, firm yet ripe tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with notes of leather and dark earth.

Drinking window: from 2026, peaking 2028–2038. Serving temperature 17–18 °C, decant at least one hour before drinking. Pairs well with braised beef, venison ragù on tajarin or aged Parmigiano Reggiano.
