Borgogno Barolo Riserva

Borgogno is one of the oldest wineries in Piedmont—founded in 1761 and owned by the Farinetti family since 2008, who consistently maintain the traditional style. The grapes for this Riserva come from the Cannubi, Liste, Rué, and San Pietro vineyards, all recognized crus within the Barolo commune. The wine is produced using classic methods: long maceration and aging in large Slavonian oak barrels.

In the glass, it displays a deep garnet red with an orange rim. The nose offers tar, dried rose petals, tobacco, and licorice—the typical aroma profile of a mature Nebbiolo. On the palate, it presents firm but already integrated tannins, lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish with leather notes.

Barolo Riserva needs air: decanting for at least two hours is recommended, serving temperature 17–18 °C . Its drinking window extends well into another one to two decades. At the table, it pairs well with braised beef, venison ragù on tajarin cheese, or mature Parmigiano Reggiano—dishes that can stand up to the wine.
