Boekenhoutskloof Syrah
White pepper, violets, a hint of leather — the Boekenhoutskloof Syrah shows from the very first moment that South Africa has long been setting its own standards for Syrah.
Boekenhoutskloof is located in the Franschhoek Valley, one of the oldest wine-growing regions in South Africa. Since the 1990s, the winery has been considered one of the defining addresses at the Cape — known for precise vinification and wines that combine European structure with South African fruit intensity. The Syrah is the flagship of this philosophy.
White pepper dominates the nose — the classic characteristic of cool, granite-rich sites. Added to this are floral notes, a mineral undertone, and subtle cloves. On the palate, black berries and dark cherry follow, embedded in a firm but ripe tannin structure. The finish is long, spicy, with a hint of leather.

Boekenhoutskloof was founded around 1776 in the remotest corner of the beautiful Franschhoek Valley. The "French Corner" (Franschhoek) has preserved much of the French way of life, and thus the winemaking tradition is also rooted in French traditions. The name "Boekenhoutskloof" means "Valley of the Cape Beeches" and was popularized under this name by winemaker Marc Kent. The most well-known grape variety is Syrah, but Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon, and Viognier are also part of the portfolio.
