Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch

From the Helderberg in Stellenbosch, where cool southeast wind influences from the Indian Ocean slow down ripening and sharpen the aromatics: a Cabernet Sauvignon that combines South African power with European structure.

Boekenhoutskloof is one of the defining names in Winelands viticulture. The winery is located in Franschhoek, but for this Cabernet, it sources grapes from the northwestern slopes of the Helderberg — a site known for deep-fruited, tannin-rich red wines with natural freshness.

In the glass, it shows dark ruby red. On the nose, cassis, black plum, and a hint of dried herbs, including thyme and bay leaf. On the palate, medium to full body, fine-grained tannins, and an invigorating acidity structure that keeps the wine lively despite its density. The finish is long, with a spicy note of dark chocolate and cedar.

Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Pairs with braised lamb shoulder, beef fillet with pepper sauce, or mature cheddar.
