Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch
From Helderberg in Stellenbosch, where cool southeast winds from the Indian Ocean slow down ripening and sharpen the aromas: a Cabernet Sauvignon that combines South African power with European structure.
Boekenhoutskloof is one of the most influential names in Winelands winemaking. The estate is located in Franschhoek, but sources grapes for this Cabernet from the northwestern slopes of the Helderberg — a site known for its deeply fruity, tannic red wines with natural freshness.
In the glass, it displays a dark ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of cassis, black plum, and a hint of dried herbs, including thyme and bay leaf. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins and a lively acidity that keeps the wine vibrant despite its density. The finish is long, with a spicy note of dark chocolate and cedar.
Serving temperature: 17–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2029. Pairs well with braised lamb shoulder, beef fillet with pepper sauce or mature cheddar.
