Cabernet Sauvignon Stellenbosch

From Helderberg, the northwestern slopes of Stellenbosch, comes this Cabernet Sauvignon from Boekenhoutskloof — one of the most famous wineries in the Cape region, known since the 1990s for its meticulously crafted red wines with aging potential.

The grapes grow on the granite and sandstone soils of the Helderberg, which wine connoisseurs like to call the "Médoc of Stellenbosch"—because of the cool sea breeze from the Indian Ocean, which slows down ripening and sharpens the aromatics. Aging in French barriques gives the wine structure without overpowering the fruit.

In the glass, it displays blackberry, cassis, and a hint of cedar, along with dark spice notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied, yet with a fine tannin structure and good extract—not a behemoth, but a well-balanced wine. The finish is long and subtly spicy.
