Argiano Rosso di Montalcino DOC

The Rosso di Montalcino from Argiano is the more accessible brother of the great Brunello — from the same Sangiovese vines, but brought to market earlier and with less wood aging in its luggage.

Argiano is located in the southwestern part of the Montalcino hill in Tuscany, at an altitude of around 300 meters. The winery is one of the oldest and best-known addresses in the appellation — its history dates back to the 16th century. The soils of galestro-containing clay and limestone give the Sangiovese Grosso (here Brunello clone) its mineral basic tension.

In the glass, a clear ruby red appears. The nose brings sour cherry, pomegranate, and violets, plus a hint of tobacco and dry herbs — typical for Sangiovese from the hill. On the palate, medium body, lively acidity, and fine-grained tannins that are already flattering. The finish is spicy and medium-long.

Serving temperature: 16–18 °C.
Goes well with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, pasta al ragù, grilled lamb, or ripe Pecorino.

Argiano

Argiano – for centuries, this name has stood for Tuscan winemaking at its finest. The estate lies in the heart of the Brunello zone, not far from Montalcino, where red soil, sun, and rugged hills provide the grapes with everything they need. What is produced here is not your average wine. The Sangiovese vines root deeply and ripen slowly – and you can taste it in the glass: a velvety texture, dark cherries, a hint of tobacco and earth. Powerful, yet elegant. Argiano combines tradition with modern thinking – in the vineyard as well as in the cellar. The result is wines that will stay with you long after you've finished tasting them.
