Durbacher Plauelrain Riesling Spätlese dry "Old Vines"

A Riesling that shows what Baden is capable of: The Durbacher Plauelrain Riesling Spätlese dry "Alte Reben" by Andreas Laible combines power with finesse – not a light summer wine, but a white wine with backbone and depth.

Durbach is considered one of the best Riesling sites in Baden, and the Plauelrain is its heart. Andreas Laible cultivates old vines here that are deeply rooted in the weathered soils, giving the wine its characteristic mineral quality. The Spätlese harvest ensures ripe fruit material, which develops a special density when vinified dry.

On the nose, a subtle herbal note, stone, and a hint of floral scent. On the palate, the wine is finely juicy and lively: animating fruit, a slightly piquant freshness, and a mineral pressure that carries through to the finish. The acidity is present but integrated – the body firm without feeling heavy. The finish leaves behind a sweetish minerality with a distinct stone character.

Pairs well with zander fillet with herb butter, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a mature mountain cheese. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window until 2028.
