Domaine de Pellehaut

Domaine de Pellehaut – the soul of Gascony for four centuries. This 18th-century château sits majestically in Montréal-du-Gers, overlooking the Pyrenees. Today, brothers Martin and Mathieu Béraut manage the 500-hectare estate – 250 hectares of vineyards on the clayey sandy soils of the Ténarèze zone. What makes it so special? Gascon polyculture: viticulture, cattle breeding, and grain cultivation in perfect biodiversity. Fifteen grape varieties, from Chardonnay to Petit Manseng. And traditional Armagnac distillation using a wood-fired still – aged in centuries-old oak barrels. The result: wines and brandies with character, refined, smooth, and complex. Awarded international medals.

Domaine de Pellehaut –
four centuries of Gascony, 250 hectares of vineyards

Nestled in the heart of Gascony , with views of the Pyrenees, lies Château de Pellehaut – an estate that has been in the same family since the 18th century and is now run by brothers Martin and Mathieu Béraut. Fifteen grape varieties grow side-by-side on 250 hectares of clayey sandy soils in the Ténarèze zone: from Chardonnay and Colombard to Petit Manseng, which thrives particularly well in the region's climate.

What sets Pellehaut apart from many other wineries is its principle of polyculture: viticulture, cattle breeding, and grain cultivation don't exist side-by-side on the 500-hectare estate, but rather in tandem. This biodiversity shapes the character of the soils – and thus also that of the wines: fresh, aromatic, with a mild structure typical of this southwestern French appellation.

In addition, the estate distills Armagnac according to ancient tradition in a wood-fired still, aged in centuries-old oak barrels from its own stock. Anyone seeking the essence of Gascony in a glass – whether as a white wine with a summer meal or as a mature brandy after dinner – will find an honest answer at Pellehaut.
