Winningen UHLEN "Laubach" RIESLING GG
The Uhlen Laubach vineyard is one of the great Riesling sites of the Terrassenmosel – and Heymann-Löwenstein produces wines from this slate biotope year after year that are not easily forgotten.
The Winningen winery has been cultivating the steep terraced vineyards directly on the banks of the Rhine, a tributary of the Moselle, for decades. Reinhard Löwenstein is considered one of the pioneers of dry Moselle Riesling. The Uhlen vineyard consists of blue Devonian slate, which retains heat and simultaneously provides the distinctive minerality that makes the wines from this region so unique.
In the glass, the Laubach displays a cool, firm structure: dried herbs, yellow-fleshed fruit, a hint of bacon, and deeply rooted minerality. On the palate, juicy, vibrant acidity is complemented by supple tannins that provide an unusual grip for a Riesling. Cranberry notes emerge in the long finish – red-fruited, fresh, and surprising.
