Heymann-Löwenstein –
Mosel Riesling with a distinctive character

Heymann-Löwenstein is one of the wineries on the Moselle that doesn't treat Riesling as a stylistic exercise, but rather as an expression of a specific place. Their vineyards lie in the terraced Moselle section between Winningen and Hatzenport – steep slopes of weathered blue slate that give the Riesling its characteristic tension between fruit and minerality, a tension rarely found so clearly elsewhere.

Reinhard Löwenstein and his team work consistently with a focus on the vineyard site: Every wine should reflect its origin, not how it was made. Spontaneous fermentation, extended lees aging, and the avoidance of technical intervention are not ends in themselves, but rather means to allow the unique character of the terroir to shine through.

At Vinoscout you will find eight wines from this winery – from accessible bottles around 25 euros that offer a good introduction to the Mosel style, to more profound wines in the range of almost 90 euros that reward patience and have a drinking window of several years.
