Vite Colte Essenze Barolo di Barolo
The Vite Colte Essenze Barolo di Barolo is a classic example of Piedmont's premier wine – and a wine that rewards patience. Made from Nebbiolo grapes grown on the silty marl soils of the Barolo region at altitudes between 280 and 380 meters, it expresses the character of its origin with compelling clarity.
In the glass, it opens with aromas of toast, Piedmont cherries, mint, and a delicate hint of iris – an invitation that awakens curiosity. On the palate, it initially appears reserved, almost introverted: oak, licorice, and clove frame an elegant abundance of fruit that reveals more depth with each sip. The lively tannins need a little time to develop – and that's precisely what makes this wine so interesting.
The winemaking process follows a meticulous rhythm: alcoholic fermentation with approximately 20 days of maceration, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel, followed by 24 months of aging in small oak barrels and a further 12 months in the bottle. The legal minimum requirements are not only met here, but practiced with conviction.
This Barolo pairs perfectly with:
- braised beef or venison roast
- mature hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Castelmagno
- Truffle dishes from Piedmont
Those who open it now will experience a wine on the cusp of new beginnings. Those who allow it to age for another two to four years in the cellar will be rewarded with exceptional depth and harmony.
