Taurasi DOCG

Taurasi is considered the great red wine of southern Italy — and the Aglianico from Villa Raiano shows why this DOCG deserves its reputation. Powerful body, dark fruit, a structure that begs for aging.

Villa Raiano is located in the heart of Campania, in the Sannio hills near Benevento. The winery has been working with the indigenous Aglianico grape for decades, which develops its full potential on the volcanic soils of the Taurasi zone. Twelve months of aging in oak barrels give the wine its structured framework without taming the varietal's characteristic wildness.

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of blackberry and mulberry, along with cocoa, dry tobacco, and a subtle menthol note that adds a refreshing vibrancy. On the palate, it is full-bodied, with dense yet silky tannins and a firm acidity that ensures a long and lively finish.

Drinking window: now until 2030, preferably with one to two hours of decanting. Serving temperature 17–18 °C.
Goes well with: braised lamb, venison ragù on wide pasta, mature pecorino or durum wheat bread with dark olive paste.
