Vajra Langhe DOC Dragon

Vajra Langhe DOC Dragon
A white wine from Piedmont that combines tradition and experimentation: The Vajra Langhe DOC Dragon relies on the rare autochthonous grape variety Nascetta – long almost forgotten, today one of the most exciting white wines of the Langhe.
The GD Vajra winery in Barolo-Castiglione Falletto is one of Piedmont's most renowned family-run estates. Established in the 1970s under Aldo Vajra, it is now run by the second generation. With the acquisition of the Luigi Baudana winery – a small, exemplary estate in Serralunga d'Alba – the family also brought Baudana's passion for Nascetta into their operation. Dragon is the result of this union.
In the glass, the wine displays aromas of bergamot, white peach, and herbs – sage and a hint of fennel. The acidity is present without being sharp, the body medium-bodied with a slightly mineral, dry-bitter finish. Typical of Nascetta: a subtle spiciness that clearly distinguishes this wine from more approachable white wines.
Serving suggestion: Pairs well with anchovy or caponata appetizers, herb risotto, grilled sea bass, or semi-hard cheeses like Castelmagno. Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Drinking window: now until 2027.
