Tenuta Argentiera - Argentiera Bolgheri

Argentiera is the flagship of Tenuta Argentiera — a Bolgheri Rosso Superiore that shows what the Maremma coast can do on par with the great Bordeaux cuvées. Dominated by Merlot, it ages for 14 months in French barriques, followed by another 12 months of bottle aging. This time shapes a wine with a deep violet color and a structure that keeps power and elegance in balance.

On the nose, black currant, blackberry, and plum, underscored by white pepper, vanilla, and a hint of cedar wood. On the palate, dense but finely polished tannins, a lively acidity, and a long, spicy finish. For the 2018 vintage, James Suckling awarded 96, Falstaff 98, and Decanter 95 points — ratings that underscore the exceptional status of this wine within the Bolgheri DOC.

Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with braised beef shoulder, leg of lamb with rosemary, or an aged Pecorino Toscano. Those who decant it give the tannins time to open up — at least an hour in the decanter is worth it.
