Steel Sauvignon Blanc

Elderflower, grapefruit, a hint of gooseberry — this Sauvignon Blanc from Christian Stahl shows the classic aroma profile of the grape variety with real substance behind it.

Christian Stahl is one of Franconia's most trusted winemakers. For his "Best of" line, he selects the finest grapes from all of the estate's vineyards, harvests them by hand, and processes them reductively in stainless steel tanks—thus fully preserving the fruit and freshness without allowing oak spice to overpower the varietal character. The result: a wine with brilliant acidity and pronounced minerality, displaying depth without becoming heavy. The 2022 vintage was awarded 90 points by Falstaff.

The glass offers aromas of elderflower and ripe grapefruit, followed on the palate by gooseberry with a juicy acidity and a fresh, mineral finish. Complex, yet very drinkable.

Christian Stahl

Christian Stahl isn't as bad as his name might suggest. He wants nothing to do with Franconian winemaking folklore – he thinks outside the box. When he took over his parents' winery in Auernhofen, he made a name for himself not only in winemaking but also in marketing. His entry-level "Nachschlag" (Seconds) line demonstrates a perfect balance between enjoyment and craftsmanship. Elegant wines with structure and vibrancy – the result of 1,000 hours of manual labor. In 2018, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) named him "Winemaker of the Year." On 30 hectares in the Tauber Valley, characterized by shell limestone and gypsum copper, wines with minerality and a hint of salinity thrive. Modern, distinctive, Franconian – at the highest level.
