A Riesling that shows what a monopoly site means: The St. Andreas in the Geislesbrunnen comes from the steepest parcels of the Andreasberg — a single vineyard that belongs exclusively to the Weingut Schloss Ortenberg and is thus one of the rare monopoly sites in Baden.

Schloss Ortenberg is located in the Kinzig Valley, on the western edge of the Black Forest, where the climate is warmer and drier than in many other German wine regions. The steep slopes necessitate hand-harvesting and ensure concentrated grapes with pronounced minerality. The wine matures on the full lees — this gives it texture and depth, which is typical for a Großes Gewächs from Baden.

In the glass, it appears clear and dense: aromas of yellow stone fruit, quince, and a fine herbal tone, underpinned by a lively acid structure and a long, salty-mineral finish. Not a heavy, lush style — rather precise, straightforward, with a genuine site connection.

Drinking temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs with fried zander with beurre blanc, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or strong mountain cheese from the Black Forest.
