Schlumberger Chardonnay Reserve Brut Méthode Traditionnelle

A sparkling wine made from 100% Chardonnay that starts with clear freshness and fine perlage and shows depth in the glass. Schlumberger stands for Austrian sparkling wine culture, and this 2018 vintage with a Brut character is a good example of this.

The grapes are processed into sparkling wine using the Méthode Traditionnelle, i.e., with bottle fermentation. The house of Schlumberger has long shaped domestic sparkling wine production. This Chardonnay Reserve Brut carries this signature in a dry, straightforward style.

In the glass, it glows bright golden yellow with greenish reflections. On the nose, hay flowers, citrus peel, and fresh almonds. On the palate, a fine perlage carries the lively freshness, accompanied by notes of green tea and a slightly mineral line. The finish is long and clear.

Serve it well chilled at 6 to 8 °C. It works as an aperitif, but also accompanies chicken in creamy sauce, fish dishes, mussels, or a spicy green curry.

The Winery

Schlumberger

Schlumberger is Austria's oldest sparkling wine cellar – founded in 1842 by Robert Schlumberger, an Alsatian cellar master who learned his craft at Ruinart in Reims and brought the Méthode Traditionnelle to Austria for the first time.

As a purveyor to the imperial and royal court and a pioneer of Austrian sparkling wine culture, the Viennese house has set standards that still apply today: base wines exclusively from Austrian contract winemakers, at least twelve months of yeast aging, artisanal riddling.

The underground cellars in the 19th district – the oldest of their kind in Austria – tell of this long history. At the Vienna Opera Ball, Schlumberger has been the secret star in the glass for decades.
