Schlumberger sparkling wine Grüner Veltliner

Made from 100% Grüner Veltliner and matured on the lees using traditional bottle fermentation — Schlumberger, Austria's oldest sparkling wine producer, is thus relying on a grape variety that is rarely found in sparkling wine.

In the glass, it displays a muted pale yellow with green reflections and fine-grained bubbles. The nose reveals the typical Grüner Veltliner profile: white pepper, ripe pear, and a hint of grapefruit. On the palate, it is invigoratingly fresh, with pronounced spice and a long, dry finish. Falstaff 2017: 93 points, Berlin Wine Trophy 2017: Gold.

Well chilled at 7–9 °C as an aperitif or with Wiener Schnitzel, asparagus with hollandaise sauce and light poultry.

Something special

In our family, we drink a lot of sparkling wine, but the Grüner Veltliner from Schlumberger stands out due to its freshness and the fine nuances of fruit, especially apricots.

Schlumberger has been better

Out of 6 bottles, 1 was undrinkable, it had corked...

Great sparkling wine!

Great sparkling wine, a bit fruitier than the classic sparkling wine from the Schlumberger house.

Schlumberger

Schlumberger is Austria's oldest sparkling wine cellar – founded in 1842 by Robert Schlumberger, an Alsatian cellar master who learned his craft at Ruinart in Reims and brought the Méthode Traditionnelle to Austria for the first time.

As a purveyor to the imperial and royal court and a pioneer of Austrian sparkling wine culture, the Viennese house has set standards that still apply today: base wines exclusively from Austrian contract winemakers, at least twelve months of yeast aging, artisanal riddling.

The underground cellars in the 19th district – the oldest of their kind in Austria – tell of this long history. At the Vienna Opera Ball, Schlumberger has been the secret star in the glass for decades.
