Proschwitz Castle, Elbling

Proschwitz Castle, Elbling
Elbling is one of the oldest grape varieties in Germany – and Schloss Proschwitz shows what it's capable of: a white wine with a clear line, lively acidity and amazing freshness.
The Prinz zur Lippe winery is located on the Elbe River in Saxony, one of Germany's northernmost wine regions. The historic Proschwitz Castle near Meissen was repurchased by the Lippe family after German reunification and meticulously rebuilt – today it is one of the most prestigious addresses in Saxon winemaking. Elbling, once a major grape variety on the Moselle and Elbe rivers, is experiencing a genuine rediscovery here as a light, everyday white wine.
On the nose, it displays fresh citrus notes – lemon, a hint of lime – and green fruit reminiscent of gooseberry. On the palate, it is soft and mild, the acidity remaining present without being harsh. The finish reveals subtle vanilla notes before the citrus notes take center stage. An uncomplicated, easy-drinking style.
Serve well chilled at 8–10 °C . Pairs well with grilled fish, vegetable quiche, Asian noodle dishes with citrus sauce, or simply as an aperitif on the patio. Drink now.

Today, 70 hectares of vineyards with the best sites Kloster Heilig Kreuz Meißen and Schloss Proschwitz. Granite and loess loam characterize the soils.
