Schlatter Maltesergarten Spätburgunder QbA dry

Schlatt in southern Baden is one of the quiet insider tips for Pinot Noir — long hours of sunshine, cool nights and calcareous clay soil with loess deposits provide the basis for wines with Burgundian character.

Martin Waßmer is one of the most renowned Pinot Noir producers in Germany. His winery in Bad Krozingen-Schlatt works with great care to enhance the expressiveness of its vineyards — the Maltesergarten is one of them.

In the glass, this Pinot Noir displays aromas of sour cherry and raspberry, along with a hint of blackberry and the typical earthy notes imparted by calcareous soils. Medium-bodied, with fine, ripe tannins and a fresh acidity that keeps the finish lively. Not a heavy wine—rather precise and very drinkable.

Serving temperature 16–17 °C. Pairs well with duck breast with cherries , grilled lamb chops, or a mature Époisses. It also makes a fine, uncomplicated accompaniment to a good charcuterie board. Ready to drink now, but will keep until 2027.
