Sauvignon Blanc Terra Rossa

Sauvignon Blanc Terra Rossa
Sauvignon Blanc from Rheinhessen – that sounds unusual, but works convincingly here: The Terra Rossa from the 2022 vintage shows what the red clay soils around Westhofen can bring out of this grape variety.
The Weedenborn winery is located in Monzernheim, in the heart of Rheinhessen, and specializes in meticulously crafted white wines. The name Terra Rossa says it all: the iron-rich, red clay soils of the Westhofen vineyards give the wine a mineral depth that sets it apart from classic Sauvignon Blancs from the Loire or New Zealand.
In the glass, the 2022 vintage displays a vibrant aromatic profile: mango and papaya mingle with the more tart notes of physalis, accompanied by a hint of green herbs that grounds the tropical fruit. On the palate, it offers fresh acidity, medium body, and a clean finish with a touch of spice. Not a heavy, creamy style – but a wine that maintains its tension.
Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with fried goat cheese with honey, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or a light fish dish with citrus vinaigrette. Also a good choice as an aperitif on warm evenings. Drinking window: now until 2026.
The Weedenborn winery sits high in Monzernheim, Rheinhessen, producing wines with a magnificent location and a family atmosphere. Grapes ripen on limestone above Morstein and Kirchspiel, combining freshness and depth – Gesine Roll's craftsmanship transforms this into top-quality wine.
In the glass , precise Sauvignon Blancs , elegant Rieslings, and Burgundies shine with citrus, stone fruit, and mineral tension. Typical of Weedenborn: lean, aromatic, and full of terroir, crafted with natural care and precision.
Here you'll find the pinnacle of Rheinhessen: elegance with substance. Perfect for everyone who loves German precision and fruity enjoyment.
