Sancerre Blanc Guy Saget AOC

The controlled growing region of the Sancerre AOC lies on the left bank of the Loire, directly opposite Pouilly-Fumé, about 200 km south of Paris. The vines grow here at altitudes of approximately 200 to 350 meters in a distinctly continental climate, which nevertheless benefits from Atlantic influences and the proximity of the Loire River, creating a very special microclimate. The diverse soil formations (predominantly limestone and calcareous rock, with the famous flint above the town, and further west increasingly mixed with clay or gravel) contribute to the mineral yet very fragrant and elegant character of the wines. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for Guy Saget's Sélection Première come from the rather steep vineyards on the left bank of the Loire, which, at an altitude of around 200 to 300 meters, offer the vines good protection from the cold north and west winds. The fully ripe grapes are harvested in September and fermented in stainless steel tanks using traditional methods at controlled temperatures of no more than 18°C. Color: clear, bright straw yellow with shimmering green reflections. Aroma: a delicate bouquet of white flowers with subtle hints of gooseberry, grapefruit, boxwood, and a very elegant mineral note. Taste: fresh and lively with juicy acidity; all the fragrant aromas of the bouquet are also found on the palate, later developing into riper notes of dried fruit; the finish is beautifully balanced and elegant with fine minerality.
