Sancerre Blanc Guy Saget AOC

The controlled cultivation area of the AOC Sancerre lies on the left bank of the Loire, right opposite Pouilly Fumé, about 200 km south of Paris. The vines grow here at an altitude of about 200 to 350 meters in a climate that is clearly continental, but which also benefits from Atlantic influences and the proximity of the Loire, which creates a very special microclimate. The diverse soil formations (predominantly limestone and limestone rock, with the famous flint above the town, and increasingly mixed with clay or gravel further west) shape the mineral and at the same time very fragrant, elegant character of the wines.

The Sauvignon Blanc grapes for Guy Saget's Sélection Première come from the quite steeply rising vineyards on the left bank of the Loire, which offer the vines good protection from the cold north and west winds at an altitude of around 200 to 300 meters. The fully ripe grapes are harvested in September and fermented in stainless steel tanks using traditional methods at controlled temperatures of a maximum of 18 °C.

Color: clear, brilliant straw yellow with shimmering green reflections

Bouquet: fine bouquet of white flowers with delicate hints of gooseberries, grapefruit, boxwood, and a very elegant mineral note

Taste: fresh and lively with juicy acidity; all the fragrant aromas of the bouquet can also be found on the palate, which will later develop into more mature notes of dried fruits; beautifully balanced and elegant in the finish with fine minerality

The Domaine

Guy Saget

Guy Saget – Loire wine with soul. Rooted in Pouilly-sur-Loire for nine generations, the Saget La Perrière winery now unites five estates along the river. Each with its own soil, its own character.

The result: fresh Sauvignon Blancs that smell of citrus and herbs. Elegant Pinot Noirs, light and expressive. Wines that simply work – whether as an aperitif or at the dinner table.

Carefully cultivated, without any gimmicks. Just what the Loire has been capable of for centuries: liveliness in the glass.
