Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons Rupert & Rothschild Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot

A Bordeaux blend from South Africa that combines the classic structure of a Médoc with the warmth and density of the Cape. Cabernet Sauvignon provides the framework, Merlot the richness.

Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons is a partnership between two dynasties: the South African entrepreneurial family Rupert and the Bordeaux house of Rothschild. The winery is located in the Franschhoek Valley, one of the most prestigious red wine regions in the Western Cape, on granite and sandstone soils with cool evening breezes from the Atlantic.

On the nose, cassis, mint, and cedarwood—a profile clearly reminiscent of the left bank of Bordeaux. On the palate, medium to full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a long, spicy, and smooth finish. Approachable even when young, but will develop further with two to four years of cellaring.
