Remanenz - Grosse Reserve

The Remanenz Große Reserve from Seegut Lentsch is a red wine that takes its name seriously: Remanenz — the lingering effect, the remaining — describes exactly what this wine leaves behind in the glass.

Seegut Lentsch is located on Lake Neusiedl in the Burgenland Seewinkel, one of the warmest and sunniest wine regions in Austria. The Pannonian climate with hot summers and cool nights ensures fully ripe grapes with a simultaneously lively structure — the foundation for a red wine with depth and poise. As a Grosse Reserve, this wine undergoes the longest maturation period in the cellar, typically aged in barriques or large wooden barrels.

In the glass, it reveals dark berry fruit — blackberry, black cherry — embedded in notes of cedar wood and a hint of tobacco. The body is full-bodied, the tannins are mature and velvety, and the finish is long and spicy with a subtle smoky note.

It is best served at 16–18 °C — with braised lamb shoulder, a hearty beef roast, or mature mountain cheese. It also cuts a fine figure on a quiet evening without any accompaniments.

The Winery

Seegut Lentsch

On the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl, where sun, wind, and water set the pace, lies the Seegut Lentsch. For three generations, the family has been cultivating wines here in Podersdorf that tell of this special patch of earth – honest, unmistakable, with soul. It is a winery that does not rely on effect, but on what the place itself has to give.

The Pannonian climate noticeably shapes the character of the vines: the warmth of the lake, the wide gravel soils, the special light that lies over the plain. What grows here tastes exactly like this place – and nothing else. This close connection between landscape and glass is what makes the wines from Lentsch so special and gives them a signature that cannot be copied.

Whether fruity-fresh rosé or elegant Muscat with elderflower: at Lentsch, the lake is in every drop. Anyone who tries these wines brings a piece of Lake Neusiedl directly into their glass – and with it the peace and vastness of this unique landscape.
