Ramon Bilbao Verdejo

The Verdejo grapes come from high-altitude vineyards in the DO Rueda, where calcareous, well-drained soils and the continental climate with hot days and cool nights create ideal conditions for the development of intense aromas. Harvesting takes place during the cool night hours to preserve the grapes' freshness as much as possible. After gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, preserving the varietal fruit character and mineral clarity. A short period of aging on the fine lees lends the wine additional depth and an elegant, smooth texture.

Ramón Bilbao

Ramón Bilbao is one of the most influential names in Rioja. Founded in 1924 in Haro, the historic heart of Rioja Alta, the winery today represents a style that combines classic craftsmanship with modern cellar technology. Since 1999, Rodolfo Bastida has led the estate as winemaker and managing director, transforming it into one of Spain's most renowned wine brands. Mineral-rich clay soils, influenced by the Atlantic climate, give the Tempranillo grapes the structure and freshness that lend the wines their distinctive character. With 240 hectares of its own vineyards in Rioja, Rueda, and Rías Baixas, Ramón Bilbao's vision extends far beyond the borders of Rioja – and in 2018 became the first winery in Spain to be certified as a "Wineries for Climate Protection."
