Pym Rae Appellation Mount Veeder, Napa Valley 0.75L
A Cabernet Franc from the mountain sites of Mount Veeder — this is not a typical Napa red wine. The high altitude brings cooler nights, slower ripening, and a structure that clearly distinguishes itself from the broad, soft valley Cabernets.
Tesseron Estate is known from the Médoc, where the family has been cultivating Bordeaux terroir for generations. With Pym Rae, they transfer this craftsmanship to the volcanic soils of Mount Veeder — one of the most demanding sites in Napa Valley, at an altitude of over 600 meters. Cabernet Franc plays to its strengths here: more herbal spice, more tension than its brother Sauvignon.
On the nose, blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, and blueberry, underscored by garrigue, pepper, and fine earthy notes. On the palate, the wine shows the tightness of the mountain site — lively acidity, firm but not coarse tannins, long spicy finish with a hint of graphite.
Best served at 16–18 °C. Pairs with herb-crusted rack of lamb, braised beef shoulder, or aged Pecorino.
