Pym Rae Appellation Mount Veeder, Napa Valley 0.75L

A Cabernet Franc from the mountain vineyards of Mount Veeder—this is not your typical Napa red wine. The altitude brings cooler nights, slower ripening, and a structure that clearly distinguishes itself from the broad, soft valley Cabernets.

Tesseron Estate is renowned in the Médoc, where the family has cultivated Bordeaux terroir for generations. With Pym Rae, they transfer this expertise to the volcanic soils of Mount Veeder—one of Napa Valley's most demanding vineyards, situated at an altitude of over 600 meters. Cabernet Franc truly shines here: more herbal spice and more vibrancy than its sibling, Sauvignon Blanc.

On the nose, blackcurrant, ripe blackberry and blueberry, underpinned by garrigue, pepper and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, the wine displays the firmness of its mountain location — lively acidity, firm but not coarse tannins, a long, spicy finish with a hint of graphite.

Best served at 16–18 °C . Pairs well with herb-crusted rack of lamb, braised beef shoulder, or mature Pecorino cheese. For those with patience: this wine will easily drink until 2030.
