Paul Achs Zweigelt

Zweigelt from Burgenland – robust, juicy, with that typical dark fruit that the grape variety so reliably delivers. Paul Achs is one of the best-known winemakers on Lake Neusiedl and has been working biodynamically for years.

The winery is located in Gols, directly on the Pannonian Plain, where hot summers and the moderating influence of Lake Neusiedl ensure fully ripe grapes. The red slate soils and the mineral subsoil define the style: not heaviness for its own sake, but depth with lightness.

In the glass, a deep purple with violet reflections. The nose reveals cassis, ripe black cherry, and blueberry, along with a hint of dark chocolate. On the palate, juicy and direct, with a fine fruitiness and well-integrated tannins – nothing harsh or unpleasant. The finish is pleasantly long, with fruity spice.

Serving temperature 16–17 °C. Pairs well with grilled sausage, roast beef with onions, lamb chops, or a mature mountain cheese. If desired, it can also be stored in the cellar for another 2–3 years – its structure will hold up.

Weingut Paul Achs

Weingut Paul Achs from Gols in Burgenland works according to a simple but consistent conviction: Man does not shape the wine – the soil does.

The winery has been in family hands for generations. Paul Achs and his team rely on patience instead of control, on manual labor instead of technology. The vineyards around Gols – with their layers of limestone, loam and clay – provide the raw material. The winemaker listens. The result is wines with depth, finesse and genuine origin. Especially the Blaufränkisch Altenberg shows what this philosophy can do.
