Niederhausen HERMANNSBERG Riesling dry GG

The Hermannsberg is one of Germany's great Riesling sites — and this wine takes the time it needs to show that.

The Niederhausen Hermannsberg winery is located in the Nahe valley, one of the most mineral-defining wine regions in the country. The steep slopes on porphyry and melaphyr rock define the style of the wines: cool, complex, with a framework of minerality that only opens up slowly.

On the nose, initially flint and graphite, plus cool herbs like mint and a hint of rock. On the palate, ripe apple fruit with a slightly sweet pull, fine-juicy and lively. The body is firm, with power and backbone — slightly astringent, with a piquancy that stimulates salivation. The herbal-salty minerality unfolds slowly, almost sluggishly, accompanied by a subtle extract sweetness. In the long finish, tart citrus fruits, candied pineapple, and a hint of biscuit pastry emerge — deep, complex, lasting.

Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs with sole fillet with caper butter, scallops, or aged Comté.
